Parents
This page was intended as a simple way to show young children the weather forecast for the current day so that they can dress themselves appropriately.
I'm a father of two myself and they ask me about the weather every morning so they can find the right clothes for the day. My daughter could probably interpret online weather pages with a little training but my five year old needs something simpler.
The idea is that the current weather conditions are shown in a way that does not require reading. The current conditions are shown as well as a picture of two children showing the type of clothing that would be appropriate to wear.
How to use
Setting up the weather report page for your children is simple. Just enter your U.S. zip code and click "Get Weather". Then bookmark the page or add it to your bookmark toolbar.
Whenever you visit the page in the future, the previously selected location will be automatically remembered. No typing required.
International cities
This page also works with cities outside of the U.S. First, go to the Yahoo! Weather home page. Then browse through the cities until you find your forecast.
Once you find your forecast, look at the URL in the address bar. The Location ID for that city is the last part of the URL, after the final forward-slash, without ".html". For example, the Yahoo! Weather page for Paris is:
http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/FRXX0076.html
The Location ID for Paris is: FRXX0076
Enter the Location ID on the weather page instead of a zip code for all locations outside of the U.S.
